Narrative, Continued:

Rufus has met people that don’t live as comfortably as he does, that live in completely isolated regions of the world, yet they still appreciated their life and family. Now he doesn’t just let life pass him by, he reaches out and grabs whatever he can because he doesn’t know when life will be taken away. Rufus thinks, “A lot of us have it good you just don’t realize it, so take advantage of what you got and never complain, once you realize this you will be the greatest person you could every be.”

Rufus likes that we have three major colleges in the Triangle. He also believes that Wake County is on the forefront of technology and health care. If he was able to do anything to Wake County he said he would like to make more rules about health and fitness in schools. “I think Wake County is the perfect place to live in any part of the world, I’m lucky to live in the city of Raleigh.”

Rufus is a man not drawn into the world of computers, T.V., and electronics. Rufus works as a financial adviser for Exploris museum. Since he works on his computer at 6 hours a day he doesn’t see the point in using a computer in his spare time. Even though he has a T.V and computer he only uses them about 2 hours a week. His job is only about 6 minutes walking distance from his house so he doesn’t need a car, but he still owns one. Rufus grew up in a rural part of North Carolina. He lived in Burgaw for his whole life until he saved up enough money for college. He then moved to Maryland to get his a degree. After about 2 years he thought he wasn’t getting enough for his money at that college so he moved back to North Carolina. He didn’t want to move back to Burgaw so he went to Charlotte to finish his degree at Pfeiffer. Once he got his degree he left to get an apartment in Durham. He kept saving up his money for four years until he could buy a house in Wake County, which is in the outskirts of downtown Raleigh on a quarter of an acre lot. When he finally got settled into his new home he started to save money for a trip. Rufus takes a trip to a new country every year even if he doesn’t have a lot of money to go on one. He loves to go to India or Costa Rica. Going to these places in the world has changed his opinion of life.
