Also Rosa loves to go to Bible study, which is another important part of her life along with the church choir. Rosa went to Crosby Garfield Elementary, J.W. Ligon for middle and high school. Rosa did not go to college.

Rosa thinks Wake County is a great place to be. She likes that stores are close to her home and that the people are very friendly. She also likes Wake County because of the amount of hospitals and doctors, “Just like Dr. W.” Rosa has some concerns about the prices rising on everything. “Bus fare has gone up to $1; gas money is getting expensive and, electricity bills, and medication prices.” She also thinks that crime and gangs are getting worse. In the future, Rosa hopes to see increased community involvement among African-American children.

Can you imagine a woman devoting all her time and energy into a family other than her own, for 18 years? Well meet Rosa. Rosa is a woman born in southern Virginia who is great fun to be with! As World War 2 was ending Rosa moved to Wake County as a 6-month-old baby because her dad was a hard working brick mason. Rosa lives by herself in Raleigh, but has friends and relatives visit her non-stop. Her husband Fred died about 2 years ago. Rosa has three children, Regina, who is 39, and Reggie, who is 40, and Chuck who is 45. Rosa is a baby sitter and has been doing it now for about 35 years. She has been helping out a Raleigh pediatrician and an accountant’s family for about 18 of those years now. Rosa has a car to get to work so she does not have to worry about transportation. It only takes Rosa about 15 minutes to get to where she needs to baby-sit everyday. Rosa owns her house and has about a quarter acre of space. Rosa feels she eats out about 2 times a week. Rosa is a very strong Christian. She loves holidays like Christmas and Easter, but extremely dislikes Halloween and does not celebrate it. Rosa loves going to watch baptisms and going to the Harvest Celebration.
