Rabbi Rachel works in the community by going to hospitals, and by teaching the community about Judaism. Every Friday night and Saturday morning she and her husband celebrate Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath. They also keep kosher in their house, which means that they follow rules about eating; such as they can’t eat pork, shellfish, or meat and dairy together.

Rabbi Raachel appreciates the increasing diversity in Wake County. She believes that there should be better public transportation and more buses. “[People are so much more] polite in Wake County.”

Narrative:

As Rabbi Raachel strives to bring God’s word to her congregation through the Torah, she also appreciates Wake County for its increasing diversity, both racial and religious. Rabbi Raachel went to the University of California. Rabbi Raachel moved to Wake County from LA in 1983 for a hope of less congestion and a safer environment. She also wanted to have more green land than buildings, cars, and houses. Rabbi Raachel lives with her husband but she has one son and daughter who do not live with her. Rabbi Rachel feels that because she is white she has more privileges then other people because racial tensions still exist.
