Lawson is in a local rock band and writes the songs for his band. His band has made two CD’s, which have also been on the radio. His band is called “Nathan Asher and the Infantry” and they won an International Competition for the electronic section of the competition. Lawson plays the keyboard for his band, but can also play the piano, violin, and the cello. Nathan is Lawson’s best friend since middle school. Lawson is a very into his music and hopes to become a famous musician.

He also has an ear for music; he can listen to a song once and play on his first try almost perfectly! He is called the human recorder.  Lawson has won much Regional Piano Concerto Competition, which are very hard to win because it takes a lot of talent that he has. His proudest moment is when he planned a piano recital on his own. Doing a piano recital is extremely hard because it requires a lot of organizing and Lawson is not very good at that.

He was born in Bethesda, Maryland and moved to Wake County in 1991. He came to Wake County because he got into UNC Chapel Hill but left early, he studied economics when he was still there.  He also found a job at Explore as a piano teacher so he stayed in Wake County. Lawson also is a house-to-house piano teacher, which is where the teacher comes to the student. Lawson really likes his job because it connects him to his favorite thing, music.
