Narrative, Continued:

Since moving to Raleigh, she has picked up new hobbies like pottery and hiking. Julie just started pottery after Christmas, and she thinks that it is very difficult to learn. She likes this because she thinks that it is fun and makes her feel relaxed. Julie was surprised how pottery took so much muscle to move the hard clay, and that you have to concentrate really hard on what you're making. Julie really enjoys hiking, and likes to hike around Umstead and Hanging Rock. She likes to look for critters just like she did as a kid.

When Julie first came to Wake County she was fascinated by the county’s old architecture and its parks. She also enjoys our art centers.

Narrative:

Julie is a museum educator at Exploris. Julie grew up in Pennsylvania and created the definition of fun. She was all about playing with her neighborhood friends and embracing the outdoors. She loved looking for bugs in the mud and minnows in the water. Julie loved to be twirling in gymnastics and showed style in her dance moves. She was like Curious George without the big hat and in human form, always ready to discover new things. Her love for nature led her to want to become a paleontologist, which is studying dinosaur fossils, or being a marine biologist. After going to college at Allegheny, there was a change of plans. Her sister was moving to Wake County and was having a baby. Like a good sister, Julie came down here with her sister so she could be a good aunt. Two weeks later she got a job at Exploris and she loves it so much that she wouldn't trade her job for any other.
