Narrative, Continued:

Jerry is married and has one son. Jerry believes it is important to contribute to his community. He is involved with the Raleigh City Council, he volunteered with his son’s T-ball team, and he takes things to Habitat for Humanity.

Jerry appreciates Wake’s interstate system because it helps him to get to work quickly. One thing that concerns Jerry is that teachers are not being paid enough, “Teachers are responsible for my son 6 hours and 30 minutes a day and 5 days a week for 180 days and they are only getting paid close to minimum wage.” Jerry is also concerned about crime on Rush Street.

Narrative:

This master builder thought about attending college but decided he did not want to. Instead he got into construction. He has worked on tons of things including homes, restaurants, and a 32-story skyscraper. Seven years ago Jerry moved to Raleigh from his home state, Florida. Jerry works for MAS Building and Construction and he can build just about anything. The job is pretty risky because he has to stand high up on buildings and on ladders. One time while he was working on a building he was working in an elevator shaft. While taking measurements, only holding on to a 60-foot tape measure and standing on a 1.5 inch brick – THE SHAFT BROKE! Jerry had to make an immediate decision, fall backwards and land on telephone wires and be electrocuted or killed, fall right a 30 foot drop, or make a 10 foot jump to the right and hopefully land on cement relatively unharmed. He jumped right and wasn’t hurt at all!
