Wake County as 100 People

Exploris Middle School 7th graders, inspired by the 100 People Project, have taken Wake County and conceptualized it as 100 people after the global vision of the 100 People Foundation. This project was conceived by 7th graders, and the research about each participant was collected, analyzed, and presented as an exciting collaborative project across teachers, classes, and students.

Exploris Middle School is a public charter school in downtown Raleigh, NC, and is committed to global education and to nurturing the global citizenship of our students. To understand and appreciate our world, we need to learn about our neighbors.

Wake County 100's demographic data are based on the 2005 Census. We proudly celebrate the strength and diversity of our community: Artists, government representatives, farmers, craftspeople, homemakers, store managers, police officers, restaurant workers, engineers, salespeople, teachers, and students. These are the people in the cars next to us on the beltline, who we meet in church, temple, or at the mosque, who stand in line with us at the polls. We all rely on access to the same drinking water, use the same sidewalks and highways, rely on the same school system to educate our children, and share our community’s resources to nurture our quality of life. These are the folks whose talents are part of what attracts so many to our Capital County.
