Narrative:
It is always a good idea to start learning early. Gwyn was one year old when she started learning her alphabet. While she was a baby, Gwyn’s parents read to her. They wanted her to be able to read very well when she got older. Her parents read many books to her so they could teach her the letters and sounds. When Gwyn was very young she was talking and loved people to read to her. She would ask her parents and their friends to read her a book. By eighteen months, Gwyn was recognizing the letters in books and magazines. Her parents would also ask her, “Gwyn, what letter is this?” Gwyn would usually respond with the correct letter. Her parents were amazed. Then, when her parents would read her books she would point to them and say ‘that is the letter A’ or another letter. Gwyn also recognized the sounds of the letter and could tell that the sound of the letter was that certain letter. It is a truly amazing thing that Gwyn learned her ABC’s by age one and a half.
