Emma has been working hard since she was very young. When she was a little girl her father died so she had to help her mother take care of her eight brothers and sisters.  Both of Emma’s parents were born in Liberia so Emma is one hundred percent Liberian. This Liberian woman has been living here in America for almost 23 years.  “Coming to America wasn’t hard because I had already been living in an English speaking country in Europe.” She went to an elementary and middle school in London, England. Then Emma went to St. Theresa convent in Liberia where she graduated from high school.  Emma is still working hard to take care of her three children and her husband. All of her children were born here in America but none were born in North Carolina. Emma moved to North Carolina because her husband was offered a job at a college to teach Political Science. While in NC, Emma completed her master’s degree in nursing at UNC- Chapel Hill.
