Brenna wants the world to know that she is very concerned for the environment, and especially about deforestation. Brenna said that she first became interested in the environment through Girl Scouts. Brenna has been in Girl Scouts since she was in kindergarten. Her Girl Scout troop does activities such as an “Eco-action” badge, and lessons about the environment. It was learning about the environment in Girl Scouts that prompted Brenna, her Dad, and her brother to go on a hiking trip in Virginia. Brenna remembers this trip very clearly. She remembers walking along the trail and seeing an amazing amount of wild life, such as an inch long beetle, and many species of birds. Brenna said that while on the trail, they must have crossed at least five creeks. This hiking experience prompted her concern that there may not be any places left in the world like the park she and her family hiked. Brenna is especially concerned about deforestation of the rainforest. She remembers reading an article about the exploration of a recently discovered rainforest covered island. The article said that twenty new species of frogs were found, and some species thought to be extinct, were found again.
